CS005 This is my first ever Orchestra Model guitar or OM. It really posed some new challenges but I really like this style guitar and I am building another one already. This is made from the same piece of wood as my #4 guitar for the back and sides. It is African Mahogany but obviously this has been stained to produce the sunburst fade on the back. The top of this guitar I got from a new supplier and it is Carpathian Spruce. It came from Russia and is truly a great piece of wood. It is only harvested above 8000'. This slows the growth of the tree producing very tight grain ( growth rings). The soundhole rosette is cut from the same wood as the back and sides and is also green paua abalone pearl. The purfling is also green pau and the binding and wedge backstrip are flamed Tiger Maple. The fingerboard and bridge are Cocobola Rosewood. The fingerboard is inlaid with oval position markers cut from green pau abalone. The bridge pins, end pin and strap button are ivoroid synthetic ivory with a green pau abalone dot inlaid in the center. The neck is handcarved from a single piece of Honduran Mahogany. This guitar was given to my youngest son Collin.
